The role:

A new role has arisen for a Portfolio Management Office Lead to join the team at BA. You will be supporting specific programmes within the BA Roadmap, including the coordination of impact assessments of changes to their programme(s), collation of costs, resource and budget planning and forecasting and supports demand of work against that plan.

What you’ll do:

To be successful in the role, the role holder will be expected to:

  • Follow the strategy and direction set by the Programme and Portfolio Manager, deliver standard methodology of this subject area within their assigned programme(s).
  • Work to continuously improve PMO procedures and processes, building on industry standard methodology
  • Coordinate change requests related to their specific programme(s) including resource, cost, scope and time/duration assessment and support in the creation of recommendation(s) to steering committee(s)
  • Responsible for the ongoing cadence & governance, and maintenance of specific elements of the programme(s) plan(s).
  • Identify potential interdependencies between teams, over and under utilisation across the programme(s) resource pools.
  • Maintain the programme(s) resource demand forecast based on direction from the Programme and Portfolio Manager and the programme plan
  • Monitor and report on resource levels of all resource pools working on their assigned programme(s) , including planning, estimating and risk mitigation activities where applicable
  • Support the scoping and mobilising of programmes and projects, including costs, time and resource estimation.
  • Quality assure the specific elements of their assigned programme(s).
  • Manage and monitor specific risk, issues, assumptions and dependencies in their assigned programme(s). Raising to the Programme and Portfolio Manager.
  • What you’ll bring to British Airways:

    Good effective communication, influencing at a team level (written and verbal) and successfully manage expectations

  • Demonstrable experience of successful delivery of portfolio
  • management office lead activities within specific programmes
  • Experience of working on Business Transformation Programmes highly desirable.
  • Ability to effectively influence individuals & teams (direct/indirect), working to deliver results.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Champions a one team approach across their programme(s)
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage issues creating, seeking guidance and clarity where necessary
  • Resource planning, scheduling and forecasting
  • Budget tracking and consolidation
  • Benefits tracking and consolidation
  • External and internal resource coordination
  • Ability to facilitate Programme Meetings
  • Risk Management
  • Provide Value Assurance activity around the Programme
  • Ability to implement plans to overcome obstacles and achieve goals
  • Your experience:

    Portfolio Management Office qualification (P3O).

  • Degree qualification is advantageous but not essential or equivalent experience.
  • Professional Project Management accreditation desirable . Prince2/APMP (Association of Project Management Professionals)
  • Agile methodology (SAFe) desirable
