Hertsmere Borough Council is bringing forward an ambitious growth programme delivered through a new Local Plan.

We are working closely with our public and private sector partners to identify and deliver new growth opportunities including ambitious plans for a 5,000 home new settlement at Bowmans Cross.

The post holder will be a key appointment within our Planning Policy team, given the scale of our ambition and expected growth.

You will play an important role in the preparation of our new Local Plan and other place-focused growth and infrastructure strategies.

The successful candidate will have the drive and ambition to help us shape and improve the borough through the new Local Plan.

About the role

We are looking to appoint a motivated and ambitious Planning Officer to play a key role in preparing the policies and allocations which will direct growth over the next fifteen years in the borough and beyond.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on varied and complex work, using your planning knowledge to make a real difference.

We’re looking for someone with an enthusiasm for developing innovative planning policy. 

The role is initially offered on a two year fixed-term basis and there may subsequently be scope for the position to be made permanent. 

The Council operates a hybrid working system.

About you

You will have the ability to think strategically and work collaboratively and we welcome applications from planners with relevant experience in development management, planning policy, regeneration and the private sector. 

You will have a range of relevant experience and knowledge commensurate with the requirements of the post and should be a good communicator with the ability to play an active role in enabling the Council to carry out effective public consultation.

Pancras.
