Description

Marlborough Highways have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Permitting Officer to join a growing business within a busy department. As a valued member of the team, based out of our depot in Greenwich, you will support our operational teams whilst being the key point of contact with the local authority to ensure that the works we deliver are effectively coordinated and compliant. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Raise Permit applications as per works descriptions for submission to Highways Authority 
  • Ensure all Permits and notices are updated on time
  • Ensure works are running on time and requesting extensions if needed
  • Submit permits and notices and liaising with Project Planner & Project Supervisors notifying them of road space bookings
  • Input and update permitting information using Excel/Teams spreadsheet
  • To maintain and promote relationships with the Local Authority
  • Liaise with statutory undertakers and other stakeholders and ensure compliance with specifications
  • Monitor inspections of reinstatement
  • FPN and Inspection data – challenges
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Knowledge of the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991 and Traffic Management Act 2004
  • Strong Administration skills 
  • Experience working within the highways industry
  • A detailed understanding of the relevant legislation and regulations relating to the field particularly the London Permit Scheme and familiarity with street Works Management Systems
  • Knowledge of Insight/Symology desirable but not essential
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Computer Literate
  • Knowledge of Excel and Teams
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive work ethic
