Operational Risk Manager in London

Meraki Talent are working with a Fintech client in London looking for an Operational Risk Manager.

Job Summary: The Operational Risk Manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring operational risks associated with trading activities.

This role involves collaborating with traders, compliance, technology, and other stakeholders to ensure that operational risk is effectively managed and aligned with the firm's risk appetite.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Risk Identification and Assessment:
   • Identify operational risks related to trading activities, including execution risks, settlement risks, and systems risks.
   • Conduct regular risk assessments and scenario analyses to evaluate potential impacts of identified risks.
   • Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk register for trading operations.
2. Risk Mitigation:
   • Design and implement risk mitigation strategies and controls to manage identified risks.
   • Collaborate with technology and operations teams to enhance system controls and processes.
   • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
3. Monitoring and Reporting:
   • Develop and implement risk monitoring and reporting frameworks.
   • Prepare regular risk reports for senior management, highlighting key risk exposures and mitigation efforts.
   • Monitor trading activities and transactions for compliance with risk policies.
4. Incident Management:
   • Lead the investigation of operational risk incidents, identify root causes, and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
   • Maintain an incident log and ensure timely reporting of significant incidents to senior management.
5. Policy and Procedure Development:
   • Develop and update operational risk policies and procedures.
   • Ensure that trading desks are aware of and adhere to risk management policies and procedures.
6. Training and Awareness:
   • Conduct training sessions and workshops to raise awareness of operational risks among trading staff.
   • Provide guidance and support to traders on risk management practices and procedures.
7. Stakeholder Collaboration:
   • Work closely with traders, compliance, technology, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management.
   • Act as a liaison between the trading desk and risk management function.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or PRM are preferred.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in operational risk management within a trading or investment management environment.
  • Proven track record in identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks in trading activities.
• Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in risk management tools and software.
  • Knowledge of trading systems, financial markets, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
