Job title: Compass House Administrative

Location: Ashford - South Kent - Tufton St, Ashford TN23 1EE

Salary: 12.25 - 13.95 per hour

Hours: 37.5hrs Mon - Fri

Main purpose of the role:

Operational Support, Provide effective and efficient administrative support to enable the smooth running of both Compass House and the Commissioning Team within the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner.

Main responsibilities:

- Lead on the day to day running of Compass House by undertaking receptionist functions including, being the first point of contact for enquiries, by telephone or otherwise, from members of the public, partner agencies, internal staff including the Kent Police Public Enquiry Officers at

- Provide directed advice, information, and guidance in relation to Compass House and the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner, open and close reception, receive visitors, manage enquiries and bookings through a clear booking process, and maintaining all public facing areas to high standard.

- Ensure first-line security and health & safety requirements for Compass House are met, ensure relevant checks are made and passes issued in line with policy and that security measures, act as a point of contact for any day-to- day.

- Create, manage and be responsible for a wide range of documentation producing accurate text and well-presented documents with effective file management.

- Provide administrative support to the Commissioning Team, including functions related to, funding, service monitoring and evaluation processes, ensuring timely responses, accurate updates to databases and shared email accounts, filing.

- Organise and manage meetings, including those with commissioned services and external stakeholders, ensuring timely dissemination of agendas and accompanying documents as required and attending and minuting meetings.

- Provide ad hoc administrative support to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner when required, by supporting the Correspondence Team in receiving, logging and allocating correspondence for all members of staff in the Office or partner agencies.

Necessary experience:

  • The Compass House Administrative Officer should have experience in providing efficient administrative support across a range of work streams.
  • The post holder will have experience of managing competing work streams and be able to prioritise appropriate action.
  • A good standard of education to GCSE A-C level (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics or experience to this standard are essential.
  • The post holder will also need an understanding of policing and criminal justice system plus the delivery of support services. A willingness to learn and an empathetic approach are essential.
  • Alongside the ability to collect and disseminate information accurately and be able to assess priorities and make best use of resources.
  • The post holder must possess good communication and organisational skills and be able to take control of a wide variety of emotive situations and deal with people in a sensitive and discreet manner.
  • The post holder should have good keyboard skills, be familiar with using a computer and experience of using Word, Excel, and E-Mail
