MRI Technologist in UK

Job summary

This position is responsible for performing MRI exams and procedures on patients of all ages while maintaining patient safety.

Primary duties and responsibilities

• Prepares and checks patient prior to MRI procedure
• Instructs patient regarding MRI procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation
• Performs MRI imaging procedures and adjusts the system and sequences to obtain the most effective identification and presentation of anatomic structures and abnormalities
• Archives digital data and images for physicians and radiologists to review and dictate
• Monitors equipment and system operations
• Sets up and adjusts MRI equipment and systems
• Troubleshoots problems related to image quality and reports unresolved problems or issues to technical staff
• Ensures that exam rooms are clean and equipped with appropriate supplies and equipment required for each patient
• Ensures that a safe environment is maintained during MRI exam
• Takes responsibility for patient radiation safety by following established guidelines and protocol

Experience requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years post graduate MRI experience in an acute hospital is required
• Minimum of four (4) years post graduate MRI experience in an acute hospital is required
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and radiologists to coordinate proper imaging of patients
• Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to speak and write in English is required
• Ability to speak and write in both English and Arabic is preferred

Education requirements

• Bachelors degree in Radiography, or graduation from an accredited diploma program (minimum three (3) year curriculum)
• Graduation from an accredited Radiography program (minimum two (2) year syllabus) and registration with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists, the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists, UK HPC, or equivalent, is required
• Current national license is required
• Graduation from an accredited MRI program is preferred
• Masters degree in medical Imaging or relevant clinical masters degree in a related field is preferred (will reduce one (1) year form the required years
