JOB TITLE: Mechanical Pipe Fitter

LOCATIONS: Belfast, Northern Ireland

SHIFT PATTERN: -

SALARY: £36,000 per annum


ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

As a Mechanical Pipe Fitter at ABM, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of mechanical installations within our client's vast manufacturing facility.

Your work will contribute to the safety and security of the facility, helping to protect both employees and assets in the event of an emergency.

As a Mechanical Pipe Fitter, you will report to the Mechanical Compliance Engineer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assistance with mechanical insurance inspections for PSSR regulations and ensure the correct procedures are adhered to.
  • Identify and repair steam and condensate system issues promptly and effectively
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on heating systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-winter checks on heating and steam systems to prevent potential issues during colder months
  • Ensure that all systems are prepared for increased demand during the winter season
  • Assess the efficiency of steam systems and recommend improvements
  • Implement measures to enhance the overall efficiency of steam systems, including the replacement of defective steam traps
  • Must observe and comply with ABM and client’s health and safety policies and procedures
  • Establish opportunities for energy savings and help to assist in requests
  • Willingness to attend training programmes as requested
  • Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging compliance engineering practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities and professional organisations; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks
  • Identifying hazards or improvements on-site and reporting to the facilities helpdesk
  • Using knowledge to identify a problem or an opportunity for improvement
  • Provide mechanical shift operation support
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as reasonably requested by a member of the Management Team

    • REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    · Qualification in a relevant engineering discipline

    · Hold a Coded Welding qualification

    · Experienced and skilled with mechanical steam installations

    · In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, regulations, and safety standards

    · Current and valid IPAF licence

    · Excellent communication skills

    · Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow safety protocols

    · Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently

    · Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with other departments

    · Strong attention to detail to identify and document mechanical faults accurately

    · Clean UK Driving Licence
