We are currently in the detailed design stage and pushing to begin manufacturing our first product, while still developing new solutions.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience and understanding in getting products to market.

We are currently a team of 4, but by this time next year we expect to have 10 employees spanning different continents.

You will work with 3 other design engineers and an incoming manufacturing engineer, each inputting on the design and having various personal responsibilities.

Additionally, Metacarpal is working with the most experienced engineer in this industry, who is managing product development.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with and learn from a multi-award-winning engineer, and part of the Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame.

Work Activities will centrally include:

·        Design of new parts and products including

o  Involvement in brainstorming, designing and prototyping of products as well as test equipment

o  CAD modelling, 3D printing, and testing

o  Design reviews

·        Design for manufacture including:

o  DFMA

o  FMEA

o  Design of fixtures and jigs

·        Setting up and carrying out trials with local members of the limb difference community

·        Managing timelines and reporting progress

An ideal candidate will have:

·        Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or similar

·        At least a year of industry experience in:

o  CAD modelling and PDM (preferably Solidworks) with the ability to quickly produce 3D models, and assemblies, and create part drawings suitable to be sent for manufacture

·        Experience managing their time and a project within a commercial/industrial environment

You will play a crucial role in making the Metacarpal hand a reality.
