Mechanical Design EngineerJob DescriptionThe majority of our clients business is the design and assembly of filling and packaging lines for aerosols specialising in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.The basic equipment is made in Switzerland. This gets incorporated with the other machines into the lines, linking them with the design conveyors, enclosures, air handling, electrical control systems and ancillary equipment.All mechanical design activities are completed on-site, which includes:Layout designEnclosure designConveyor designDuctwork designGeneral mechanical design (sensor bracketry/equipment mounting, etc.)We seek a Mechanical Design Engineer to create detailed mechanical designs and drawings for the mechanical systems and equipment. You'll collaborate closely within a dedicated team of mechanical design engineers, overseen by the Drawing Office Manager.Personal AttributesSystematic approach to their work with attention to detail.Proven teamworking and good problem solver.Flexibility and curiosity with a willingness to learn and apply themselves to areas to which they are not familiar.Desire to improve and develop their area of work.Experience and KnowledgeEssential:Working knowledge in an industrial/design environment of Autodesk products, including AutoCAD (2D), Inventor (3D), Autodesk Vault (User only), although other 3D CAD software knowledge may be considered, such as SolidWorks etc.Experience in drafting standards for BS 8888.Mechanical design experience in a working environment in an industrial design role.Recognised engineering certification/apprenticeship.Good understanding of engineering techniques, including machining, sheet metal, fabrication.Able to interpret equipment assembly drawings and maintain the high-quality finish and output levels expected by our customers.Able to operate within the requirements of good health and safety discipline.Able to adhere to the requirements of current industry-recognised engineering design standards.DesirableFamiliarity with Automated production machinery or other similar equipmentExperience in a project environment across a multi-functional project teamUnderstanding of conveyor designUnderstanding of airflow and ductwork design and calculationsUnderstanding of ATEX standards requirementsUnderstanding of safety standards requirements for the design of equipmentResponsibilities:Generating manufacturing drawings and equipment layouts, with supporting mechanical documentation (schedules, (bill of materials), sub-assembly drawings, schematics, etc.)Maintaining existing mechanical drawings and documentation when existing equipment is upgraded or modified.Act as a liaison between the drawing office and Mechanical Technicians/sub-suppliers, and work with other departments as necessary to ensure the correct parts are ordered/supplied for assembly.OverviewPosition - Mechanical Design Engineer - Permanent Location - Laindon, EssexSalary - £30k - £40kKeywords: Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Design, Layout Design, Enclosure Design, Conveyor Design, Ductwork Design, AutoCAD (2D), Inventor (3D), Solidworks, BS 8888, Automation Production.Candidates require right to work such as ILR or settled status.
