Managing Director in UK

We are looking for a Managing Director to join our team. You’re probably a Finance & Ops Director looking for a new challenge or have worked as an MD previously.

Playful Promises is a well regarded lingerie & swim business that like much of the retail industry has had a challenging time. We are implementing a turn around plan refocusing on profitability over other metrics.

We have our iconic brands and a thriving private label business where we work with world renowned brands and retailers to supply swim, lingerie and active to them.

Your qualities:

• Fastidious attention to detail
• Great at refining & creating strategy whilst being able to create a positive motivational spirit in the team that allows for the effective execution of the strategy
• Problem solving skills
• And the obvious – hard working and willing to get hands dirty as we’re a small team of 15 people

Role:

· Working with the Founder to create the strategy for the business, set KPIs for the team, as well as over seeing the implementation and success of these:

This includes managing:

Design & Production Director, Digital Director and Sales Manager to meet their top line targets and margins

Ops & Merch to deliver the correct product mix across our sales channels on time

Finance Manager to deliver accurate & timely financial information to base strategy on

· Leading management team to meet KPIs & mentoring to help grow their skills & confidence

· Responsible for overall profitability and success of the business

· Take ownership for operational success in the business, problem solving and refining strategy in this area

· Have a strong understanding of cash flow and able to make commercial decisions around cash flow

Experience:

• Must have a finance background and be able to work with complex excel modelling
• Must have operational experience and ideally have used Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
• Must have worked with a retail business and have experience of e-commerce – ideally a female focussed consumer business eg fashion/beauty/jewellery etc
• Experience of private label or manufacturing a bonus

Salary level £90k to £100k + generous options package
