Role:

We are seeking our FIRST Legal Counsel who will be involved in all things legal within Dexory.

This will be a mostly remote position with occasional onsite visits to our site in Wallingford, UK.

You will be a SOLE player to start with, having a great opportunity to review and set the right principles and processes around a range of issues, essential for the sustainable growth of the company.

You must be comfortable to deal with the uncomfortable, think on your feet and also cover the ground work as necessary.

The role requires a strategic thinker with excellent judgement, and a thorough understanding of commercial law with strong experience in commercial contract management and negotiations.

You will be managing external legal resources as well as engaging with customers, suppliers, investors, and ensuring the company's compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.



Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and setting up core processes and procedures to ensure compliance across teams
  • Handling the day-to-day legal affairs of the business
  • Working with the Commercials team for drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, represent the company is customer negotiations as needed
  • Reviewing supplier contracts, helping with negotiation, terms etc. whilst conducting risk assessments and gaining all necessary approvals
  • Ensure the company's operations and activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and policies. Develop and implement compliance programs and training if needed
  • Oversee and manage litigation, disputes, and other legal proceedings involving the company
  • Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and external legal advisors



Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years PQE qualified
  • Mandatory contract management and negotiation experience
  • Experience as an in-house legal practitioner with a tech company would be ideal
  • Proven experience in handling complex legal matters, corporate governance, compliance and litigation
  • Experience/knowledge of UK employment law, including handling sponsorships is beneficial
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Any knowledge/experience on international employment law would be a plus
