GENERAL SUMMARY

Reporting to one of the lawyers within the Legal Department, the successful applicant will contribute to the overall success of the organisation. Whilst a focus will be on the review and negotiation of terms and conditions, the Legal Counsel will also provide general in-house legal support and guidance, working closely with operational and commercial teams to ensure that operations are carried out in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The incumbent will advise on compliance matters and support the drafting, reviewing and negotiation of contractual documentation, with the successful applicant expected to lead in business-critical contracts.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful applicant is expected to:

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, e.g. customer and supplier contracts, NDAs, IT agreements
• Work closely with the commercial teams on a broad range of commercial matters, including compliance, together with such other legal duties as required
• Provide support on trade compliance and corporate governance related matters
• Reduce risk/exposure within the company’s commercial agreements while maintaining good external and internal customer relationships
• Support the development and evolution of company policies, procedures and programmes to underpin the business’ long-term continuous improvement culture
• Assist in leading the development and execution of legal compliance training for the business

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Proven track record of meeting commitments with the highest standards of ethics and integrity and in accordance with Celeros FT Values
• The ability to take full ownership of and responsibility for projects, adding value to internal risk reviews and external customer negotiation strategies
• Strong skills in analysing, drafting and negotiating contracts, including customer and supplier terms and conditions
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
• Working knowledge of laws and regulations impacting the company, with an international mindset
• Pro-active, positive and independent approach to work and results oriented outlook
• Commercially-focused, enthusiastic team player with the ability to thrive under pressure and manage changing tasks in a fast-paced environment, adapting to evolving business needs as required
• Proficient in Word, Excel and Power-Point
• Fluency in English is essential

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Law degree required
• 5 years post-qualification experience within an in-house, corporate legal environment or law firm
• Experience working on commercial contracts, compliance matters, corporate governance, intellectual property, together with all matters requisite for the provision of general in-house support
• Experience with trade compliance related matters preferred

LOCATION

• Glasgow, UK
• Up to two days per week remote hybrid working will be considered
