Requirements

About the role

As a Junior Engineering Manager, you will be an integral part of our small team of engineering managers. You'll work closely with Backend, JavaScript, iOS, Android and QA engineers to support their performance and development. This role is ideal for someone passionate about technology and leadership and who is ready to take their first step into management.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and Guidance - You'll coach engineers to reach their career goals in line with our progression framework and support them to overcome their day-to-day challenges.
• Performance Management - You'll provide feedback to engineers, review their progress and help them get to grips with their performance metrics.
• Team Growth - You'll support Squad Leads to identify and solve friction points in their teams' processes using their performance metrics.
• Engineering Management Projects - You'll collaborate on projects to improve performance, development and innovation across the whole engineering team. e.g. building a progression framework for our Leads or creating and running development workshops.

A little bit about you…We’d really like to hear from you, if you have…

• Software development experience - You have a solid background in software development (any language), allowing you to understand our stack and support our teams.
• Effective communicator - You can use your communication skills to connect with the team and create safe spaces to share feedback.
• Interest in mentoring or coaching - You’re ready to help others and learn how to do so effectively.
• Proactive and eager to learn - You approach challenges proactively because you know that learning is the goal. You are not afraid to fail fast and understand that first iterations don’t need to be perfect.
