About the role

We have a great opportunity for an experienced technical Manager to join our team at our Customer site in central Cardiff.

Please note this role is site based 5 days a week.

As an IT Manager, within our Cloud, Cyber and IT Business Unit, the IT Manager will be based at Cardiff and Vale College and will manage the on-site IT support team and IT function to ensure that the service delivered to the customer is in line with contractual commitments.

A strategic thinker, the IT Manager will also act as a technical escalation point for the on-site team.

This is a hands-on managerial and technical role and will require you to build strong relationships with customer contacts and senior IT stakeholders.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday, with shifts between 0800 and 1900.

The successful candidate will also currently hold, or be prepared to go through, an enhanced DBS check.

 

What you’ll do

  • Lead and manage the on-site IT support team, including co-ordination of the daily workload, 1:1s, development plans, performance management, etc
  • Act as the go-to face of IT for CAVC employees – representing ARO on site and championing excellence in delivery
  • Ensuring the availability and capability of resources to deliver the contracted services, including managing rotas, training and backfill.
  • Oversee the ticket queue, allocating and chasing tickets and ensuring they are managed in line with KPI targets
  • Providing support to the Service Delivery Manager in preparing for service reviews and operational meetings, supplying narrative, context, owning actions as required
  • Work closely with the CAVC Tech Lead on the day to day management of the IT function and to plan future developments to ensure that any changes to the support model / profile / requirements are fed through to the Account / Service Management team
  • Provide technical escalation to more junior team members
  • Implement and drive processes that align with CAVC processes
  • Liaise on a daily basis with the primary customer contact / senior stakeholders on IT matters

Requirements

What we are looking for?

Essential

  • Team leadership experience
  • Stakeholder relationship management
  • Troubleshooting and problem management experience
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience of working to formal SLAs delivered through IT Helpdesk or PSA software
  • Strong technical experience in a Wintel infrastructure environment (Server 2016- and associated services, Win10, etc.)
  • In-depth Azure/365 administration
  • Clustered Virtualisation (Hyper-V)
  • Networking concepts (Subnetting, vLAN, Routing, WiFi)
  • Firewall/UTM administration

 

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a managed services environment
  • MacOS
  • JAMF
  • Autotask/ServiceNow
