We spun out from the University of Oxford in June 2011 andare based near Oxford.
First Light continues to work closely withthe academic community both in the UK and internationally.
Thecompany is wellfunded by both institutional investors and privateindividuals.
Inertial confinementfusion for energy generation is a wellestablished research fieldand is being pursued in many laboratories worldwide perhaps mostnotably in the US at the National Ignition Facility.
We areexploring a number of alternative research directions that harnessthe same fundamental physics with the prime focus being powergeneration.
Our work todate has included theoretical analysisdetailed numerical simulation and experimental validation.
We havean increasingly clear vision of the pathway to a powerplant.
We really believe fusion will be solved inthe 2020s.
If its solved by us fantastic if its solved by someoneelse still great.
