Interim Senior Legal Counsel in UK

Montresor Legal are assisting a leading media production and distribution company with the recruitment of a short term holiday cover for one of their Senior Lawyers.

This role is from June 31st - Sept 4th 2024. It will be remunerated on an umbrella day rate basis at £600-650 pd.

Role Purpose:

• Provide high quality commercial legal advice across all business areas to ensure the best commercial terms are negotiated and contracts are appropriately documented.
• Work with the Legal Director and other members of the commercial legal team to provide effective management (i.e. drafting, negotiation and interpretation) of contracts across Technology and Operations activities within the business e.g. SaaS/Cloud agreements, licences, data processing and data sharing agreements, partner agreements, platform agreements/terms, software development agreements, reseller agreements, master services agreements (global and domestic), services agreements, outsourcing agreements, consultant appointments etc.
• Develop and understand risk mitigation strategies for contractual risks.
• Responsible for maintenance of internal templates, automated precedents, guidelines and toolkits of a wide variety of business and legal issues.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Commercial Legal Affairs Team processes and management of legal and compliance risks.
• Exercise sound professional judgment in identifying issues that require escalation to the Legal Director.
• Manage support aspects of the legal function (e.g NDAs, DocuSign, internal approval system).
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Legal Director.

Technical Skills / Attributes

• Qualified solicitor with appropriate post qualification experience (6 years minimum); able to practice in England and Wales.
• Excellent academics and strong IT and commercial law experience gained in ahigh quality in-house or private practice environment.
• Genuine interest in technology solutions is essential.
• Very good knowledge of the law in areas of technology, data protection and privacy, contract and commercial is essential.
• Experience of working in media or content businesses would be helpful, but not essential
• Experience working with U.S.-based, multi-national corporations would be advantageous.
• Ability to communicate legal advice clearly and concisely in a commercial environment.
• Demonstrable strong skills in contract drafting and negotiating of commercial agreements.
• Demonstrable ability to provide effective commercial solutions to clients and colleagues and to act as a commercial and legal advisor within a business team.
• Ability to analyse complex legal issues; develop strategies and argue points constructively and succinctly.
• Ability to instil trust and confidence among business colleagues and clients.
