Salary:

£36,421 to £39,591 per annum. This role also carries a 10% market supplement and a 5% shift allowance.Birmingham City University is a large and diverse place to work and study right in the heart of the city and we are currently looking to add two new infrastructure engineers to our IT team to support the team during a time of exciting and significant technical development at BCU.The successful candidates will work with the infrastructure team in support of our technology strategy and our technological roadmap to deliver new infrastructure services while maintaining existing service provision for BCU IT and Digital services.Infrastructure Engineers at BCU cover a range of technical tasks and responsibilities, including providing specialist expertise to facilitate and execute the installation and maintenance of system software such as operating systems, data management products, office automation products and other utility software. You will also operate and control the IT infrastructure required to deliver and support IT services and products, and provide network maintenance and support services through investigating and resolving problems and providing information about systems.You will be educated to a degree level or have relevant equivalent experience; a relevant professional qualification, i.e MCSE or CCNP; and be proficient in the frameworks and principles on which networks, systems, equipment and resources are based, for example: Windows Server/XP/Vista, UNIX, Oracle, TDM, ATM, TCP/IP. You will also be able to undertake duties at different premises including any University campus as required.IT Services provides services across extended hours.
