Advert: The Role

Hain Daniels are currently recruiting for a Hygiene Manager at our Clitheroe site. In Clitheroe, we manufacture traditional hot puddings under our Farmhouse Fare brand, as well as our own private label puddings.

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Reporting into the Site Technical Manager.
  • Creating, implementing and maintaining a cleaning strategy, through cleaning schedules, microbiological swabbing and improvement plans.
  • Creating, maintaining and training of CIC’s.
  • Liaising with Engineering, Operations and Planning Team to agree the weekly hygiene schedule.
  • Overseeing a team of Hygiene Operatives.
  • Ensuring training is completed and the skill level maintained within the team.
  • Management of team’s performance through hygiene KPI’s, with a clear and effective improvement plan.
  • Completing hygiene audits to drive improvement.
  • Involvement in key customer audits.
  • Responsible for managing chemical stocks and spend.
  • Making sure the hygiene team have the relevant tools for the job.
  • Manage hygiene sign offs including periodicals.
  • Communicating hygiene KPIs.
  • Key Responsibilities

    Food Safety Culture Support site initiatives to drive improvements and monitor the Food Safety Culture. Health & Safety  Liaise with the Health & Safety department to create safe working practices.
    Follow Good Manufacturing Practice and observe all food hygiene and health & safety policies at all times.
    Oversee the site’s COSHH systems and maintain safe working practices. Managing chemical stock, hygiene equipment and PPE. Carry out chemical and PPE stock takes.Order chemicals and PPE as required to ensure chemicals are on site to carry out the cleaning as required.
    Control chemical spend in line with the Technical budget. People management Lead, train and develop the hygiene team.
    As required carry out recruitment of hygienists in line with Hain Daniels procedures.
    Carry out Performance Reviews of the Hygiene Team in line with the Review schedule.
    Make sure the Hygiene Team have the tools to carry out the job.
    Ensure training is completed and the skill level maintained within the team.

    What you will need for the role / what it will take

    Education Level (i.e. Degree, Prof. Quals., etc)Educated to HND / HNC or Degree Level desirable.Years Experience (i.e. Relevant experience, Industry Experience, Management level experience, etc)Extensive experience (5+ years) of managing and leading a hygiene team in a food manufacturing environment.

    Key Capabilities and Characteristics (Interpersonal skills, specific competencies, specific skills, etc) •Awareness of food hygiene and health and safety requirements. 
    •Basic Food Hygiene qualification.
    •Chemical handling awareness.
    •Good at motivating and communicating to a team.
