Head of IT

Macgregor Black are partnering with a Leading Consumer Goods business, on the search for a Head of IT .

This is a permanent role based in London.

The Head of IT is a strategic role responsible for leading and managing the organization’s IT strategy to ensure high performance and cost-efficiency across all technology initiatives.

This role involves overseeing IT infrastructure and applications, enhancing business processes, and supporting organizational goals.

The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to align IT initiatives with business objectives, mitigate risks, promote innovative solutions, and drive continuous improvement in IT operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, recommends options for enterprise-wide applications.
  • Develop and implement the business IT strategy.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the IT team.
  • Identify new technologies and process for use improving business efficiencies and decision making.
  • Acts as a bridge between technical and business audiences during solution development.
  • Maintain the IT security strategy to protect the organisations data and systems.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of IT projects and ensure they are on-time and within budget.
  • Co-ordinate with cross-functional teams across the business to deliver IT initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key technology vendors and service providers.
  • Act as IT liaison between the IT department and others, ensuring effective communication.
  • Provide regular reports of IT performance to senior stakeholders and management.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT systems, policies and procedure.

What are we looking for?

  • Degree in computing/computer science/Information Technology preferred (Bachelor level or similar).
  • Experience in IT management with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the IT space.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role, managing IT teams and projects.
  • Project management experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and applications, as well as cloud computing, and data management.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with users and internal/external partners.
  • English – written and spoken.
  • Excellent relationship building skills. Ability to lead cross-functional teams, developing and nurturing productive relationships with IT counterparts, business partners and third-party providers.
  • Solid understanding of business processes and how IT can support and enhance these processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of Agile principles and development methodologies.
  • Ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, rapidly changing environment (need people who can be energetic, agile, pro-active, positive and react to change).
  • IT certifications such as ITIL are advantageous but not compulsory.
