MARS Recruitment have partnered a market leading manufacturer of scientific instrumentation in their search for a Head of Engineering (NPD | Mechanical). This business has steadily grown over the last 20 years and are currently going through a period of exciting change which you could be part of. The Head of Engineering (NPD | Mechanical) will have full accountability for Engineering and NPD, and your goal is to get new products to market and achieve project deadlines.

The Head of Engineering (NPD | Mechanical) will manage a small but growing R&D team which comprises of five staff. You will be passionate about Product Development and Design, leading your team with an energetic approach keeping them driven and focused at all times. You will be responsible for the team on a daily basis, including recruitment, 1-2-1’s, training and mentoring. You will have technical oversight and leadership, getting involved with the design elements of the products, plus with overall project management of the new and existing product development projects that the team are currently running.

About you – Head of Engineering (NPD | Mechanical):

The successful Head of Engineering (NPD | Mechanical) will need to be degree educated in a relevant Engineering Discipline; ideally Mechanical however others will be considered. You will also have a combination of the following:

• Experience in successfully delivering NPD projects: this can be in any technical engineering sector.
• Expertise in planning, controlling, and delivering NPD projects.
• Experience leading a multidiscipline engineering design team – a mix of mechanical engineers with electronics/software/mechatronics
• A proven track record of successfully working in a similar role.

Our client is offering an excellent salary of up to £75,000, plus a yearly profit share bonus, pension, flexible working. This role would really suit someone who wants to develop and grow into becoming a director.
