Group Tax Manager in London

Howdens are seeking to appoint a Group Tax Manager based at our office in Wigmore Street, Central London.

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the tax function, be part of the group finance leadership team and influence and shape the tax strategy of a growing FTSE 100 business.

This position includes compliance, but importantly involves the strategic development, relationship building, and comprehensive financial process management across the group.

This is an ideal role for someone looking to develop into a tax leadership role or transition out of practice.

This high-profile role involves a variety of projects, for example managing risks with international expansion and involvement in finance systems implementation. 

What will I be doing as a Group Tax Manager?

Reporting to the Director of Group Finance, you will develop and implement tax strategies to minimise the group's tax liabilities, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations, and assess tax risks, putting in place appropriate controls and procedures.

You will act as a trusted advisor to senior management, identifying opportunities for tax optimisation and efficiency while fostering strong relationships with various business functions to ensure compliance across the group.

Collaborating with finance and operational teams on tax planning initiatives, you will oversee the accurate preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with all UK and International tax laws where relevant, including corporation tax, income tax and VAT.

In this role, you will also manage tax audits and inquiries from HMRC, conduct research on complex tax issues, and stay updated on changes in tax legislation.

As a leader and mentor to the Assistant Tax Manager, you will foster a culture of excellence and collaboration.
