Comanos is collaborating with a client who specialises in the development of large-scale solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and wind power facilities throughout the UK. This well-funded organisation with a robust pipeline of projects is seeking a talented Grid Manager to oversee and guide their grid intelligence and connection operations. The Grid Manager will work closely with senior management, the land acquisition team, and forge strong relationships with Distribution and Transmission Operators as well as System Operators to tackle complex engineering issues and secure grid capacity for major solar, wind, and BESS projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the project pipeline by maintaining regular communication with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and National Grid Electricity System Operator (NGESO) throughout the project lifecycle, including tracking progress and submitting all necessary applications.
  • Identify and obtain grid capacity information suitable for PV, wind, and BESS projects.
  • Liaise with DNOs and NGESO regarding budgets, pre-application meetings, and upcoming developments.
  • Complete ENA G99 and G98 application forms.
  • Review and analyse technical drawings related to design, layout, site optimisation, and other site-specific considerations.
  • Provide due diligence support for potential project acquisitions.
  • Assist with the procurement processes for Independent Connection Providers (ICP) and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (a Masters in Power Systems is an advantage).
  • Previous experience in a technical role related to grid connections for electricity projects.
  • Experience working on renewable energy projects, particularly solar, wind, and BESS.
  • Familiarity with Grid Code/ENA G99 and G98 regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders, network operators, and grid consultants.
