Job Summary

The Financial Reporting Manager is a qualified accountant, who leads on the delivery of our statutory reporting including the annual external audit and the production of statutory financial statements.

This role is also responsible for the effective oversight of cashflow reporting, balance sheet control and VAT compliance as well as treasury management, the provision of technical accounting advice as well as the delivery and accuracy of management accounts information pertaining to their areas of responsibility, in accordance with the internal reporting process.

This role is a key member of the senior management team within the Financial Control Function responsible to, and deputising for, the Financial Controller.

The Financial Reporting Manager will lead and manage a small team.


About You

To be successful in this role, you need to be a qualified accountant, ideally ACA or ACCA, educated to degree level or qualified by experience and have extensive experience in the production of annual statutory accounts and management of the external audit process, experience in dealing with stakeholders at all levels and have deep knowledge of accounting principles under UK GAAP.

You have to be up for change, have a desire to improve processes, develop your team and others and improve efficiency.


About the Role

  • Oversee the timetable and the production of an accurate, complete, and compliant annual report, drafting the statutory financial statements and the completion of the external audit, to the specified timetable.
  • Produce key information, pertaining to areas of responsibility, for the management accounts pack, liaising with key stakeholders to achieve this.
  • Lead the team and be responsible for the reconciliation, control, and reporting elements of the balance sheet including; fixed assets, stock, investments and restricted funds.
  • Act as Secretary to the Investment Advisory Group.
  • Lead on the production of the rolling, monthly, cash flow forecast for the charity.
  • Control the treasury management to maximise the financial return on working capital and investments to St John.
  • Be accountable for Gift Aid and VAT submissions and work to ensure that Gift Aid/VAT processes are efficient and effective.
  • Work across finance and Shared Service Centre in simplifying and continually improving financial processes to provide both internal and external customers an efficient and effective finance experience.
  • Deputise for the Financial Controller in their absence
