Job Purpose

The role focuses on the design, implementation, and governance of National Grid’s executive reward programme. The role implements and administers the Company’s discretionary employee share schemes as well as its all-employee share schemes (which covers 30,000 employees including Sharesave and Share Incentive Plan in the UK and Employee Stock Purchase program in the US). 


An important part of the role is the management of all regulatory and legal reporting and disclosure requirements such as the Directors’ Remuneration Policy and the Directors’ Remuneration Report (DRR) for the Annual Report & Accounts. 

What you'll do

  • Act as a trusted advisor to HRBPs and internal stakeholders through providing best practice insights to inform business decision making on sensitive/confidential matters relating to external recruitment, internal moves, retention awards and exits associated with executives
  • Responsible for the Non-executive, Executive Director and Group Executive Committee (GEC)recruitment and termination process, which includes but is not limited to compensation proposals, term sheets, buyout of terms and conditions, offer letters, separation agreements as required – supported by an analyst
  • Produce of all Remuneration Committee papers and presentation materials as well as planning each RemCo cycle including Draft the Directors’ Remuneration Report (DRR) for the Annual Report & Accounts (ensuring all regulatory disclosures are met) and the Annual General Meeting preparation for the CEO, RemCo Chair and Company Chair. 
  • Oversee the submission of key regulatory reporting such as the 162m reporting, R9 governance reporting, DAG, 409A, and CEO pay ratio with the support of an analyst 
  • Implement the share scheme strategy, policy, and administration; includes discretionary long-term incentive scheme as well as all-employee share schemes in both the US and the UK
  • Project manage and administer Sharesave and Share Incentive Plan in the UK including plan launches and maturities, overseeing maintenance files to Equiniti with the support of an analyst and act as the point of contact for any Sharesave or SIP query. 
  • Managing the relationship between National Grid and our vendors (share plan administrators and RemCo advisors) including ensuring each vendor stays within scope and budget, having regular touch points in terms of service and overseeing the invoicing of work
  • What you need

  • Between 2 to 5+ years of experience in executive pay
  • Strong knowledge in the executive pay landscape which requires an awareness of diverse practices, precedents, insights and/or sophisticated concepts and principles
  • Advanced excel skills and experience drawing appropriate conclusions from data analysis to enhance decision making for reports and presentations 
  • Ability to confidently build relationships with senior business leaders 
  • Holds external qualifications such as Tapestry certificate in employee share plans or CIPD
  • What you'll get

    A competitive salary between £46,000 - £65,000 – dependent on capability
