Are you an experienced Environmental and Sustainability Manager?   Salary: £45,000-£50,000 per year plus benefits   As the Environmental and Sustainability Manager you will be working as part of the SHEQ team to support the Head of SHEQ and the Leadership Team. You will be providing pro-active leadership on sustainability and environmental issues and promoting an enthusiastic and positive commitment and approach to continuous improvement.   This will include raising the profile of the company's environmental programmes and sustainability by identifying new opportunities in working with our supply chain on innovation projects to reduce our environmental impacts   Main Accountabilities: ·Support and advise Directors, Managers, Supervisors and Employee's in relation to any environmental issues, respond to requests for assistance by the bid/business development team and other key functions as well as support sustainability / environmental improvements on key contracts.   ·Responsible for overseeing the environmental performance of the business and delivering our environment strategy and sustainability commitments to our clients, including environmental plans and environmental risk assessments.   ·Periodically visit work locations and project sites to assess/review/inspect the level of compliance, exercising the necessary authority to order work to stop to prevent any environmental incidents or breaches of compliance. ·Ensure all relevant legislation and procedures. including legislative changes, are communicated and where necessary training developed to ensure business compliance. ·Facilitate the Carbon Reduction Plan, overseeing the methods for the measurement and reporting of carbon improvement performance liaising with management to highlight any environmental risks and opportunities.  Gathering Carbon |data for SECR reports etc and organised for verification. ·Continuously monitor and report on environmental performance and particularly review any incidents, and 'near miss' reports and ensure that appropriate levels of investigations are carried out as required and that all necessary Learning & Corrective actions needed to prevent a similar future occurrence are captured/communicated/understood and actioned in a timely and efficient manner. ·Support any external audits and accreditation schemes needed for the Divisional needs e.g. ISO 9001, 45001, 14001, support NERS, and NHSS 8 ·Collate environmental KPIs for internal monthly Board reports as well as contract specific environmental reports where required. ·Manage, coach, and develop team members, and to support individuals to achieve their potential and deliver effective business results.  Deliver environmental training, toolbox talks and undertake on-site coaching. ·Liaise with key stakeholders on matters of environmental management and sustainability, including clients, subcontractors, regulatory bodies and other project stakeholders. ·Lead on documentation and other compliance activity to support the discharge of environmental planning conditions and manage duties associated with biodiversity net gain compliance. Knowledge, skills and abilities: ·BSc/MSc or relevant equivalent in an Environmental Science or Environmental Management related subject and/or membership of IEMA and experience in a similar type of role ·Experience working in a construction or highway maintenance environment. ·Full driving license. ·Strong ICT skills with experience of using applications including Microsoft Word and Excel, email and the Internet. ·Experience with health and safety management principles and processes and application of ISO 9001/14001. ·Ability to apply theoretical and practical environmental and sustainability knowledge to a diverse range of situations, contributing to further develop sustainability systems and working practices. ·Ability to analyse data, produce management reports and communicate results and findings to a range of audience types from layperson to professional/technical. ·Experience in conducting inspections, audits, incident investigations and generating reports. ·Proven ability to plan and prioritise workload and adjust accordingly to reactive situations and events. ·A knowledge of ecological, archaeological and environmental law.   If you feel that you are right for this role technically, but the salary, location or seniority does not suit you specifically then please still feel free to send us your CV.
