Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

As an Engineering Team Manager, you'd be part of our Homes Platform Team, working as a member of the Servicing Lab. Delivering solutions on the bank’s core Mortgage Servicing Platform, accountable for servicing 20% of UK’s Mortgages. This is a leadership level role and will blend both deep domain and technical expertise within a feature team and great passion for coaching and developing people in a “player-coach” model.

You'll play a key role working collaboratively with other lab roles to create empowered Teams who are motivated to take on business problems and realise value to customers through excellence in agile execution.

You’ll help drive change to support and enhance the customer experience on UK’s Largest Mortgage Book!

What you’ll do

  • As a leader and motivator, you'll nurture team members to create a high performing team culture.

  • You'll lead, direct and control the delivery of benefits for our customers & colleagues

  • You'll shape and lead major change initiatives which implement business strategies successfully.

  • And you'll influence positively - demonstrating the right values and behaviours and encouraging this in team members.

  • Deliver the highest quality customer driven software whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring, and supporting their engineering teams.

  • Be an advocate for Engineering, providing a voice to engineers within the teams, identifying and supporting their teams in resolution of impediments and issues.

  • What you’ll need

  • Strong Engineering background with experience of delivering software products and solutions is essential.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong knowledge of the entire software development lifecycle and experience in end-to-end delivery of software products.

  • Significant experience with agile development methods & tooling e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence, and experience of leading & working as part of an agile team.

  • Strong software development background essential, along with knowledge of modern software development toolsets including Cloud hosting, AI, Web App development, API’s, DevOps Continuous Integration and Delivery

  • You're a dynamic and adaptable individual – able to use & learn new skills & knowledge in varying circumstances.

  • A natural facilitator and decision-maker, you'll enable collaboration across all teams within the Lab.

  • Experience in leading a team/people management.

  • It would be great if you had.

  • Knowledge of Mortgages and/or Unisys UFSS Mortgage system

  • Good understanding of data analysis and data query tools / technology such as Oracle / SQL.
