About The Role

As an Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our assets.

You will ensure that all development projects adhere to the highest technical standards set by our Engineering Team, with a focus on achieving best-in-class performance in both embodied and operational carbon.

Your expertise will guide the design and execution of development and capital works projects, providing crucial insights to our development managers for key decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with Development Managers to implement and refine engineering solutions, from design to commissioning, within our projects.
  • Innovative Approaches: Champion market-leading strategies for reducing embodied carbon, enhancing building performance, and improving customer experiences.
  • Strategic Support: Contribute progressive ideas to the Engineering function, shaping the strategic direction for development projects, operational management, asset information, and more.
  • Design Review: Oversee and critique design team solutions from inception to commissioning, ensuring compliance with The Crown Estate's Technical Standards and readiness to meet performance targets.
  • Project Management: Assist the engineering team in managing complex technical challenges and project delivery.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Drive new ideas and mechanisms to support The Crown Estate's Net Zero Carbon ambitions.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical support for district energy strategies, regional regeneration projects, and engineering-led initiatives like NZC and building optimization.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven Expertise: A stellar track record in engineering building systems and smart building technology, with a forward-thinking attitude in complex environments.
  • Educational Background: A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Building Engineering fields such as Architectural Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Strategic Experience: Demonstrated experience in strategic design, testing, commissioning management, and validation.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry measurement systems like NABERS, BREEAM, WELL, WiredScore, and SmartScore.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience in a senior contractor or consultant designer role, with the ability to represent The Crown Estate externally.
  • Comprehensive Understanding: Insight into development viability, value, cost, and quality drivers related to engineering solutions.
