As Engineering Manager, you will provide leadership for the site’s engineering team, creating a collaborative and safety first culture, underpinned by the Knauf Values. You will deploy agreed business objectives through engaging and facilitative leadership ensuring best utilisation of all plant resources. The role purpose is undertaken as part of site’s Management Team, utilising all sources of functional expertise.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Ensure safety first at all times and have influence in all interactions to maintain a safety focus throughout engineering.

  • Provide clear and engaging leadership to allow the engineering team to reach their full potential by investing in training, development and wellbeing.
  • Champion a CI culture and support the teams with knowledge of CI tools, techniques and ways of working
  • Communicate a clear engineering strategy and provide expert guidance to the wider plant team
  • Deliver necessary project and CAPEX investment projects through supporting the project engineering team.
  • Manage the R&M budget to ensure costs are controlled effectively and opportunities for savings can be identified
  • Implement a clear structured approach to problem solving, using the appropriate tool for the scenario (5 Why, 8D, DMAIC etc)
  • Manage the stores operation to ensure availability of identified critical equipment and a proactive approach to spare part management.
  • Champion the use of OSIPi and a data driven approach in all decision making
  • Support the implementation where possible of the Knauf must win battles
  • Engage with the wider KI engineering teams to deliver best practice
  • Develop a close relationship with all teams to support the attainment of the stated business objectives and targets.

If you have any of the following – this would be an added advantage:

  • Strong and facilitative leadership
  • Clear drive for improvement, proactive and desire to learn new skills.
  • Strong KI Values displayed and clear understanding of the fundamental principles of Continuous Improvement
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
  • Degree educated in a relevant discipline advantageous
  • Knowledge of CI Framework tools and techniques (LEAN, SIX SIGMA) desirable
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and not accept opinion as fact
  • Good communication and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of SAP – desirable
