Building Energy Manager

  • Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum

Purpose of the Role The Building Energy Manager will drive energy, carbon, and water reduction initiatives across the University's operational estate, aiming for absolute zero emissions by 2048. This includes integrating energy efficiency projects into the maintenance program and increasing on-site renewable energy generation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify Opportunities: Find and assess the feasibility of energy, carbon, and water reduction projects. Develop business cases to secure funding.
  • Support Delivery: Work with the Estate Operations Team to implement approved projects and monitor their impact.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with teams across the University to reduce energy and water use.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Provide technical support and advice on energy, carbon, and water reduction. Share knowledge and best practices.


Person Specification:

  • Essential:
  • Degree in engineering or environmental discipline.
  • Experience in energy and carbon reduction projects.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.
  • Desirable:
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies.
  • Experience in water management and delivering awareness sessions.


Terms of Appointment:

  • Working Hours: Flexible, as required for duties. Typically Monday to Friday.
  • Pension: Enrolment in USS (Universities Superannuation Scheme).
  • Annual Leave: 33 days plus public holidays.
