The role

TO APPLY FOR THIS ROLE PLEASE ENSURE YOU SUBMIT AN APPLICATION VIA OUR DEDICATED MICROSITE:

At Southwark Council, we believe our greatest strength to be our people. Driven by values that promote openness, honesty, and accountability, we’re committed to ensuring our staff, residents, and communities are enabled to reach their full potential.

Here at Southwark, exciting things are happening: we’re embedding a new business partnering model and have created this new position. As an Employee Relations (ER) Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role, delivering expert advice, guidance and coaching to managers, HR colleagues, trade union representatives and employees. At the same time, you’ll provide strong case management and oversight of all formal ER casework. In short, it’s an exceptional opportunity to shape our team and ER model.

In addition to providing wide-ranging ER guidance, you’ll see that all ER activity has the necessary resource. That means managing your team and allocating people for everything from data reporting to case reviews. As a subject matter expert in ER, with postgraduate membership of CIPD (or equivalent) and good people management skills, you’ll know exactly what each case requires.

Your expertise will cover investigations, appeals, preparing conciliation and employment tribunals. And, with your solution-focused approach, you’ll bring strong quality assurance to improve case management and develop lessons learned. With excellent communication skills, you’ll be equipped to inspire a team and connect with everyone from legal services to external partners.

By harnessing our individual and collective contributions, we have the power to create a better future for Southwark. Use your power to help us build a next generation workforce for a next generation council. Join us.
