The Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead and drive the planning and resourcing of a continuous operation, consisting of over 2000 staff and serving over 29 million passengers a year. This is a key position to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the airport, and one that gives you line management responsibilities over the Resource Planning department. Your key deliverables will be:

  • Leading department of approximately 25 staff, accountable for all aspects of resource delivery, admin and planning capability.
  • Coordinating and scenario planning activities required to support business planning and budgeting.
  • Planning, supporting and enabling people and systems change.
  • Ensuring all operational demand and supply aspects are met for the airport.
  • Monitoring, modelling and advising on operational performance impacts to resource, recruitment and budget requirements.
  • Working alongside Operational Directors, HR, Recruitment, Assets, Finance and Commercial teams to deliver on wider strategic aims.
  • Reporting to both Stansted and MAG executive committee, Airlines, Trade Union representatives and external stakeholders.
  • Driving and embedding upskilling, training and systems improvement processes within the department. 
  • Focusing on continuous improvement as the demands of the airport change through a period of transformation.

    This is a key position within the leadership structure at London Stansted Airport, with a vital area of responsibility. We are looking for an individual with experience working within large, complex organisations, with high operational demands. However, as a value driven organisation, we are looking for a leader who values an empathetic leadership style and will contribute positively to the culture of the AIrport. Specifically, we are looking for someone with the following:

  • Planning and/or Operational Leadership experience, particularly leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • BSc or equivalent in Planning or relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience of change management and scaling teams.
  • Programme Management experience.
  • Proven ability in the planning space and a deep understanding of relevant models and approaches. 
  • Analytical approach.
  • Training and upskilling experience. 
  • Clear and concise communication skills. 
  • People focus.
