The role is responsible for supporting the UK Head of Tax in managing the direct tax affairs of UK based group companies. The role will also contribute to the UK Head of Tax's responsibility for managing the direct tax compliance processes and the relationship with HMRC on all direct tax issues, as well as providing tax advice on UK projects, acquisitions, disposals and restructurings, international tax issues and the analysis of new & existing UK corporation tax rules and evaluating threats & opportunities to the UK group.

Your responsibilities
Direct Tax compliance, being the main point of contact for the UK input into quarterly and year-end reporting and the 3 year corporate forecasting plans; Preparation of UK Corporation Tax returns and tax disclosures for UK statutory accounts. Preparation & reconciliation of true-ups; Actively supporting UK tax process digitalisation initiatives; Managing the relationship with HMRC on direct taxes including Business Risk Reviews, enquiries, responses to consultations and influencing HMRC in changes to legislation; Advising on direct tax matters for new project development opportunities, acquisition, disposal and restructuring activities within the group, including review of financial models, structuring advice and review of legal documentation; Advising on international tax issues including providing the Group Tax Function with UK support on topics including tax transparency reporting, transfer pricing, and relevant BEPS topics; Work closely with other functions (accounting, legal, HR & business units) to understand business activities and needs, advising accordingly on all direct tax issues; Analysing UK direct tax developments, monitoring changes in accounting standards and advising the tax function on of their impact and appropriate actions; Supporting on direct tax services provided to Uniper in the UK by both internal and external audit/advisory teams from the major firms including R&D claims Your profile
Essential
ACA (or ACCA) and Chartered Institute of Tax qualified Proven experience and technically competent knowledge of UK corporation tax and general corporate tax principles gained within an international accountancy firm or within a major corporate group Strong communication skills with a proven ability to place tax in a business context and explain technical concepts to non-tax people A desire to implement digital technologies including “low code/no code” solutions Desirable:
Experience of international tax issues sufficient to be able to raise issues affecting the UK Group in the wider context of our international business Ability to establish and maintain a key network of contacts at Senior Management level within the businesses of the group based in the UK, with external service providers and with peers within the Industry A high level awareness of other UK taxes (VAT, employment and environmental taxes) sufficient to be able to identify situations where other members of the team need to be involved Your qualities
