About The Role

EKFB is proud to have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. We're seeking to recruit a Design Project Manager to specialize in Design Close Out processes and join our Technical Team, working Routewide in Milton Keynes! This role will require Ad-hoc travel across our sections.

As a Design Close Out Project Manager you will work within the technical function. You will support managing design, technical change and governance process improvements that involve design supply chain. You will be in liaison with the EKFB commercial team and will be required to review the technical processes that help support design change management associated with all technical lifecycles. You will drive and help enforce a continuous improvement. You will need to work closely with EKFB commercial team and coordinate with the technical team in the project areas to oversee the implementation of the governance processes. You will also be required to support the integrated project team, discussions and report on the design change evolving position and quantum.

A key part of this role requires you to manage technical debt delivery in liaison with the designers and HS2. You will drive and lead the project an efficient close-out of the technical debt. You will need to coordinate with the project areas and the overall project technical debt programme to achieve the delivery targets. Additionally, you will also have direct management of the Routewide technical debt portion.

You will be involved in the design and technical change by managing assessments of TACs related to designs that are issued by HS2. You will coordinate the technical assessment compilations and share with the EKFB commercial team. You will monitor and support reporting on implementation of TACs into the designs and coordinate with the operations and procurement/commercial teams. You will also be required to share the implementation of TACs to the wider supply chain.

As a Design PM specializing in design close out, you will also support the Design Delivery Director in managing and overseeing the set-up of the process and strategy for delivering “as-builts”. You will need to support by defining and managing the delivery programme initiative. You will also be required to support the Design Delivery Director in managing escalated technical and assurance topics that relate to Routewide design management. This will be achieved by liaising with technical discipline leads and supply chain.

About You

  • Extensive experience in technical project management roles (design/engineering), preferably in large scale programs of work.
  • Chartered Engineer (MICE CEng) /project manager or equivalent professional qualification
  • Ability to lead and manage delivery of technical programme / projects along the various technical lifecycles, in account of cost and schedule requirements.
  • Management of commercial aspects of technical delivery, including change
  • Strong communication skills at multiple organizational levels, internally and externally
  • Full UK Driving License is required
