Data Modeler in Birmingham

Insight Global is looking for a data modeler to join a large financial institution for a 6 month ongoing contract located in Birmingham. The candidate will be working within the loans engineering team focused on developing new and enhancing current data models for a variety of regulatory initiatives being implemented firmwide. The candidate will be involved in participating in design and review discussions for the requirements with the key stakeholders which entails understanding of loans products and the loans ecosystem. These requirements will need to be translated into the data models that follow their enterprise architecture standards and regulatory standards being implemented firm wide. Additionally, this role will also involve socializing the data models to the different teams that consume the data model and day to day education on the data model to the different teams (i.e. what each field means, what the data means around the data model, how to consume the data etc.). The role and team work in an agile discipline and so familiarity with agile principals and scrum methodology is key for this role as well. The chosen candidate will be working with a variety of teams and stakeholders and as such, strong written and verbal communication skills are imperative for the success of this role.

The Ideal candidate should apply if they have the following:

· 5+ years of data modelling experience with strong understanding of data modelling standards

· Strong understanding of conceptual modelling skills, data types and data cardinality, identifying constraints

· Previous background as a software engineer

· Experience with data modelling, data analytics, and business intelligence

· Knowledge of data warehousing and the development of physical, conceptual and logical models

· Good scripting/programming ability in one or more languages (e.g. Python, JavaScript, Java).

· Broad knowledge of financial products and markets

· Experience with relational database and SQL Queries

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

Pluses:

· Experience with test driven development and unit testing

· Familiarity with scrum

· Previous Loans experience or financial services background

· Experience in financial modelling using CDM, FPML, Rosetta DSL
