A little about us…

In 2008 our co-founder Andy Cato was on the way home from a gig when he read an article about the perils of the industrial food system. The article ended with the line “If you don’t like the system, don’t depend on

it.” This inspired Andy to sell the publishing rights to his music (his pension) and buy a farm. After 15 years of failures (a lot of testing), hard work, challenges and learnings we’ve assembled the largest network of regenerative arable farmers in the UK, which means we’re growing crops full of life, at scale, whilst also transforming landscapes. In 2018 we launched Wildfarmed - a regenerative farming and food brand. We’ve grown to 500+ customers, including the leading lights of the UK bakery and restaurant scenes and are now stocked in retailers across the country, supplying flour, bread, pizza, pasta etc. to places like: Jolene, Franco Manca, Ottolenghi, Pizza Pilgrims, The Fat Duck, Manchester City, Abel & Cole, Zizzi, Greggs, Waitrose, M&S.

About the role: Data Engineer

In our start-up journey, we are now at the point of scale where we need a sophisticated, joined-up view of customers and growers based on data that’s currently siloed across multiple systems. This is vital to help support our rapid growth and to capture the hard data that demonstrates the sustainability benefits regen farming delivers. We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our team.

This person should be able to work with our Technology Director to:

• Design and construct a data infrastructure including data pipelines, ETL processes, a data warehouse and an analytics platform
• Develop and optimise database models and schemas for performance and reliability
• Identify and select the appropriate supporting technologies
• Operate across the entire software lifecycle, from concept to deployment
• Work closely with the business to deliver value through automation and data insights

About you

We are on a mission to shake up the food and farming landscape. To do this we need people who are full of life, driven and determined to make change happen. On top of that, we’re looking for:

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or Software Developer
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and organise data efficiently and coherently
• A clear communicator who can engage with the business in an open and collaborative way, explaininG technical concepts (if necessary) along the way
• Expert in SQL
• Years of experience designing database schemas
• Years of experience working with REST APIs (GraphQL a bonus)
• Good experience designing and building ETL processes
• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure
• Experience with CI/CD

Reporting to: Technology Director

Place of Work: Wildfarmed HQ (Central London) with an option for hybrid.
