Position Summary

TGE is looking to recruit a Data Analyst to work with our Head of Data Analytics.

The role involves supporting on the delivery of analytical outputs for multiple projects and clients as well as helping TGE develop new data processes and products.

Key Purpose of Role

This role is to support TGE in making best use of data and technology.

Specific areas you will work on include:

  • PBII Reporting – a new framework emerging from TGE’s place-based impact investing work enabling asset owners and asset managers to consistently report on how their investments contribute to sustainable development at a local, regional and national level.
  • Good Jobs Analysis – a methodology designed to understand the nature of specific jobs and how they contribute societally, making use of company specific, sector and geographical data.
  • Data support for Impact Services – working across various projects to provide analytical support. This will include generating maps and other visualisations as well as contributing to written reports. You will also help maintain in-house data tools.
  • Research and development of new data products and services.

Primary Responsibilities

Key responsibilities are:

  • Handling, integration, analysing and visualising of data from various sources. This will include client portfolios, surveys, publicly available socioeconomic data and large open-source geographical data.
  • Sourcing and maintaining data. This will include liaising with clients to collect the data, checking and cleaning data through to processing, analysing and report generation.
  • Delivery of specific analytical tasks for client projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, impact advisory services to time and within budget. This will include the production of maps, charts and other analytical outputs.
  • Play a key role in helping develop TGE’s knowledge and data infrastructure. This will include the development of one or more databases.
  • Provide input into enhancing current analytical tools and techniques or developing new ones. This could include automating existing processes, as well as exploring new analytical techniques and technologies (including AI) to help improve our capabilities.
  • Provide ongoing support in TGE’s day-to-day client work. This will include inputting into social due diligences, impact reports and impact strategy designs.
  • Provide input to the development of TGE’s impact measurement and management tools and services, in line with global best practice and our own frontier thinking on place-based impact investing and related market analysis.

Experience and Competencies

Essential:

  • Degree level background in Data Science, Geographical Information Science, Statistics, Economics or related field.
  • Proven experience of handling, analysing and visualising large data sets.
  • Experience using MS suite (especially Excel) and other data handling tools including programming languages (Python, R) GIS (QGIS, ArcGIS), databases (SQL-based environments) and visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau or similar).
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies and ambition to contribute to a growing mission-led business.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and interest in sustainable and inclusive development, particularly in the UK. Understanding of ESG and Impact investing.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to reports.
