Job Title: Credit Controller

Location: Liverpool / 3 days on site

Salary: £23,000 - £27,000 BOE + Bonus!

Contract type: Permanent

About the role

We currently have 2 exciting opportunities for an experienced and a junior Credit Controller to join our Liverpool team.

As the Credit Controller you will handle credit assessments, decisions and collect payments in line with payment terms.

If successful, you will possess strong telephone negotiation skills with the ability to oversee various operations necessary for resolving customer debt payments.

The ideal candidate will be excited to pick up the phone and confident in communicating with our customers to ensure credit terms are adhered to.

You are expected to have experience interacting and working with customers and ensure their needs are met.

As part of your role you should understand when it is appropriate to negotiate payment plans.

What you'll do

  • Effectively manage workload across portfolio
  • Adhere to all credit control processes and develop where necessary
  • Collection of all outstanding debts within payment terms
  • Reduce aged debt through pro-active telephone-based collection techniques
  • Minimise risk across portfolio through regular review and arrears management
  • Promote and develop relationships with key contacts throughout the business
  • Manage queries to resolution through investigation, reconciliation and escalation
  • Recommend appropriate action bailiff/legal/forfeiture
  • Ensure all systems information is up to date and accurate and clearly demonstrates actions taken
  • Creation of required client reports
  • Manage payment plans
  • Recommend bad debt write offs
  • Assist in raising profile of credit control team with all departments
  • Assist cashiering team with allocation of monies and maintenance of accounts
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure excellent service

The experienced Credit Controller will additionally be involved in the following:

  • Assist in bi-monthly DD run
  • Stand in for CC Manager on weekly debtor review call when they are on leave
  • Support CC Manager on process improvement initiatives

Requirements

What are we looking for?

Essential:

  • Good IT skills (Word, Excel, MS Outlook). Previous experience of working on multiple platforms
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • At least 18 months experience in a call centre environment, making high volume out bound calls.
  • Good understanding of credit control procedures and techniques
  • Experience of working in target driven environment
  • Experience of working in high transactional environment
