About the role

Benefact Group , are looking for a Credit Controller  to join our Gloucester  office on a 12 month fixed term contract.  As Credit Controller  you will provide an effective professional credit control service to the business, maximising performance and effectively contributing to company goals.

Key responsibilities
  • Maintain up to date worksheets to provide performance figures and effectively manage collection activity to maximise cash collection and minimise bad debt in line with KPI’s, for both the UK and ROI
  • Communicate and liaise with internal and external contacts, providing a prompt and accurate service to maximise efficiency and to meet cash collection and overdue targets. The telephone to be the main tool.
  • Identify and adhere to all Vulnerable Customer policies, apply Forbearance policy, and provide required MI to ensure FCA compliance
  • Produce Regional/Direct reports highlighting credit performance results and key issues and attend monthly meetings to present these to the Regional Directors/Direct Team Managers
  • Promptly and accurately escalate credit issues as appropriate to Group Credit Risk Manager, Group Agency & Broker Risk Manager, Sales or Agency Risk Co-Ordinator in respect of problem accounts to minimise the potential for bad debt
  • Produce appropriate documentation to be used in both internal and external settings ensuring quality is in line with requirements and all BACS/FCA/SEPA rules and regulations
  • Assist as required with Ad hoc projects
Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Ideally experience within a credit control role, preferably in the financial services industry - Full training will be given so we will consider applications without relevant experience
  • Effective negotiation skills utilised with brokers, customers, underwriters and Sales
  • Effective relationship building with intermediaries and customers
  • Ability to work within a small team, working flexibly as the workload requires, covering various areas of the team to provide holiday/sickness cover
  • Familiar with direct debit collections, rules and regulations for BACS, SEPA, Consumer Credit Act, Consumer Credit Directive and Premium Finance regulations
