The Role

This is a superb opportunity to join an award-winning law firm within their Private Client department that offers specialist quality legal advice to a broad range of vulnerable clients. The firm has been recognised by the Legal 500 for its outstanding client care and high-quality lawyers.

The Court of Protection team is a newly formed team and so this highly sought-after role will enable you to work with the Deputy and Head of the Court of Protection team to shape a successful team and go from strength to strength.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years’ experience running a Court of Protection/Private Client caseload and will be responsible for all aspects of Court of Protection work including Personal Injury trusts; statutory wills and gift applications; deputyship applications, as well as providing guidance to other team members. You will also have the opportunity to Lasting Powers of Attorney, and deal with probate and estate administration.

Client care skills along with experience in working in a Court of Protection department is essential. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Mental Capacity Code of Practice and Court of Protection Rules

There is a steady flow of new instructions from existing clients and the firm is seeking a motivated, technically strong lawyer with ambition, who can develop relationships and put clients at ease during potentially very stressful situations.

The Candidate

  • Previous experience of working in a Court of Protection/Private Client department
  • Ability to work to deadlines, to prioritise and manage a varied caseload
  • Strong legal and leadership skills with an eye for detail
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional and effective communication with team members and contacts
