Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be accountable for:

•Managing planned and fault outages on the HV and EHV network

•Delivering excellence in safety management and customer service

•Part of a team of Control Engineers working a shift pattern to deliver HV & EHV outages, manage system risk and optimise network performance for our customers.

•An ability to make decisions in a real time environment

•Effective communications and liaison with internal and external stakeholders during planned and unplanned scenarios

•Production and communication of System Incident reports to relevant stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance

Key Competencies

•Working as part of a high performing team to develop and implement operational strategies required to deliver business needs

•Ability to prioritise tasks in a real time environment, displaying effective decision-making skills

•Excellent technical knowledge, including an understanding of HV and EHV network operations and associated safety rules

•Knowledge of Grid Code and Distribution Code

•Deliver quality outputs to required deadlines

•Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders

•Deliver excellent customer service.

Qualifications and Attributes

Essential Qualifications

•Level 5 or 6 (HND, degree or equivalent) in STEM subject, or a level 4 qualification (e.g) HNC)

•Full UK driving licence

Essential Experience

•Experience of network operations and planning processes

•Detailed understanding of Distribution Safety Rules and Operational Practice Manual requirements

•Knowledge of LV, HV and EHV networks and associated protection systems
