The Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Wellbeing Advisor.

Main duties of the job

The role is to guide, educate and support our staff members on how to improve how they manage their physical and mental health by developing the knowledge, skills and confidence to change their health-related behaviours, helping to improve their overall quality of life health and wellbeing

You will work to reduce health inequalities and develop health information in a variety of ways to ensure our staff have an understanding about good health and health lifestyle.

Leadership and Improvement Training

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme, and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. This programme aims to:

·Explore leadership within the NHS

·Promote Trust Values and Behaviours

·Develop your Leadership effectiveness and skills

·Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role

After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities,

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria

  • Specialist knowledge of Health and Wellbeing and current national and local policies relating to wellbeing.
  • Knowledge of: Weight management/ healthy eating /Alcohol Awareness & Identification Brief Advice Training / Smoking cessation awareness / General understand of the National Health and Wellbeing Agenda
  • Ability to develop and facilitate workshops
  • Desirable criteria

  • MECC trained
  • Coaching experience
  • Qualifications & Training

    Essential criteria

  • Registered nurse/midwife
  • Desirable criteria

  • Teaching qualification ENB 998, City and Guilds 730, Cert Ed or Experienced trainer with a history of delivering sessions to NHS staff
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Experience of delivering healthy lifestyle advice on a 1-1 and/or group basis, translating health improvement knowledge into practice.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of models of behaviour change to increase activation to make positive changes.
  • Experienced Trained Health Advocate.
  • Experience in delivering immunisations
  • Disclosure and Barring Checks (DBS)
