Eastlight Community Homes is seeking a highly skilled and influential Company Secretary to make a significant impact within our purpose-driven, resident-centred organisation.

Role Overview:

As the Company Secretary, you will be at the forefront of Eastlight’s governance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and providing expert advice to our Board, Committees, and Leadership Team . Your leadership will be crucial in driving our governance , data protection , and overall regulatory compliance .

Key Responsibilities:

  • Governance Leadership: Provide strategic direction on governance matters, ensuring Eastlight meets all regulatory, statutory, legal, and professional requirements. Act as the primary advisor on governance issues to the Board, Committees, and Leadership Team.
  • Board Support: Advise and support the Board and its Committees, facilitating effective governance practices. Ensure efficient and effective operation of Board and Committee meetings, including timely preparation and distribution of papers and minutes. Lead the preparation and oversee our AGM.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strong relationships with the Regulator of Social Housing, leading regulatory engagements and inspections. Ensure compliance with the Code of Governance, Code of Conduct, and regulatory standards.
  • Data Protection: Oversee compliance with GDPR and data protection laws, implementing policies and practices to safeguard sensitive information and minimize risk of data breaches.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualifications: Relevant professional qualification in corporate governance (or working towards), or significant experience as a company secretary.
  • Experience: Proven track record in a senior leadership and experience in developing and implementing governance frameworks and compliance strategies. Experience in managing data protection compliance.  Deep understanding / prior experience in the social housing sector.
  • Skills: Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills, with a deep understanding of governance and data protection legislation. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate positive relationships with Boards, Committees, and external stakeholders.

  • £103,500 annual base salary
  • Full time, Permanent
  • Group stakeholder pension plan (Eastlight will double, up to 5% of the    employee’s contribution - Employee 5% + Eastlight 10% = Total 15%)
  • Annual wellbeing grant of £200 per annum – Subject to eligibility
  • 33 days annual leave plus bank holidays
