What you’ll do (the role)

Purpose of the role

The Asset Services business unit within LSbp are responsible for all operational assets owned directly by the LSbp group or by third party owners. They are accountable for ensuring the sites are run safely, compliantly and can deliver the financial returns expected. We are looking for someone to join our Asset Services business to help drive the next phase of our growth and global expansion.

As a Commercial Director for Asset Services, you will lead the Commercial Team in the Asset Services business and join the Asset Services leadership team. You will also work closely with colleagues in the Strategy team. The Commercial Team leads commercial development for Asset Services, specifically leading on strategic growth, profitability, and pipeline management.

The role will support in for four key areas:

  • Shape and support the development, execution, and management of LSbp Asset Services growth strategy
  • Lead customer and competitor analysis and business model development
  • Support regional M&A opportunities for the business
  • Support business development activities for Asset Services
  • You will need to have a deep commercial and financial understanding of solar operations, and lead decision-making and management of a high-growth renewables business

    Duties and responsibilities

  • Work with operational leads to support identification of new market opportunities for Asset Services (e.g., new geographies, service types (battery), and develop go-to-market strategies)
  • Provide ongoing support of existing business development efforts (in addition to driving BD in areas where that capability is not in place)
  • Lead competitive intelligence on service offering of other Asset Services providers in the market
  • Co-ordinate and own key aspects of long-term business management. Work with finance and operational leads to develop 5-year plan, develop processes to enable strategy delivery
  • Work cross functionally from Asset Services to drive high-priority strategic initiatives in a variety of fields e.g., Strategy, IT, Finance to facilitate the expansion of the business
  • Standardize how we talk about Asset Services externally (e.g., key messaging, value proposition etc.)
  • Identify gaps in our existing ways of working, and work with all relevant teams to outline and implement improved processes, taking ownership of end-to-end delivery of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support and drive the management of regional M&A transactions relevant to Asset Services
  • Manage Board and Senior Management engagement on commercial topics
  • Who we’re looking for

    Knowledge/ Experience

  • Demonstrable experience leading on commercial topics, with experience in operations management / renewables / start-up / consulting / IB preferred
  • Strong interest in solar PV, operation management, the energy transition
  • BA or equivalent required; a degree in engineering or the sciences would be advantageous
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Experience with other software (e.g., PowerBI, ArcGIS, Tableau) desirable
  • General Skills/Attributes

  • Entrepreneurial attitude, with commercial and negotiation experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders throughout the entire company
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence senior management
  • Strong project management skills
