420 years since we were set up by the then Archbishop of Canterbury, John Whitgift, we remain committed to our vision to bring young and old people from all walks of life together to build a sense of community in all that we do.

We are one the largest bursary providers in the country, we provide care and housing for the elderly and we have land and commercial assets in and around the town of Croydon.

With a team of 85 employees, assets of around £165m and an annual expenditure of circa £86m, we are conscious of our role in championing and contributing to the success of Croydon.

We are looking for a leader who will draw upon our rich heritage to help us build the future of the Foundation and the future of Croydon as an important leader in the local community.

We are looking for a CEO who can build on the foundations of what has gone before, and who is excited by the prospect of developing the recently undertaken governance and strategy reviews so that we are able to contribute fully to supporting the community of Croydon.

The successful candidate will bring extensive executive leadership experience, most likely at CEO or similar level of seniority.

You’ll bring a track record of developing and delivering strategy for an organisation with a range of stakeholders.

A champion of Croydon, you’ll have cultivated inclusive, values-led, high performing, accountable working cultures.

You will have high EQ and a collaborative approach to connect effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Adept in governance and rooted in heritage you will be excited about the future of the organisation.

John Whitgift Foundation is proud to be an equal opportunities employer and we’re committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

We actively seek applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and can provide the support you need to thrive: we believe our differences make us stronger.
