The Business Development Manager is accountable for the new development of clean dispatchable power solutions for Uniper's UK locations by leading a number of technical projects, commercial and contractual workstreams to enable deployment of new green assets.

Your responsibilities

• Lead the business development of Clean Dispatchable Power projects from initial ideation through to approval of project final investment appraisal. Take end-to-end responsibility by steering the project resources to secure finance and business model support to secure necessary commercial structures and positive business cases. 
• Be a core member of project management team and positively contribute to team culture, processes and strategy.
• Manage the interface between technical and commercial functions in delivery, and to wider corporate functions in the review process of high-quality decision papers.
• Manage divergent stakeholder interests in an inclusive, yet goal-oriented way. Act as relationship owner for key external stakeholders such as infrastructure providers, CO2 logistic solutions providers and lead commercial discussions with these counterparties.
• Gather market intelligence and support lobbying of political and regulatory changes in respective market from a project development perspective. Lead negotiations with government on key project support contracts, ensuring adequate risk allocation and deliverability, in collaboration with other functions.
• Execute Uniper’s Clean Dispatchable Power strategy. 
• Leadership of Clean Dispatchable contract positions up to Financial Decision example – CO2 Transport and Storage Chain Contracts, Regulatory (DESNZ) negotiation team to secure Power Agreements, Bidding Strategy Team for UK Competition Entries.
• Identify new opportunities for developing and deploying decarbonisation solutions across the Uniper operational assets.
• Senior stakeholder engagement & management across Uniper business functions with frequent engagement at L2 level and infrequent engagement at L1/Board Member
• Support development and growth of the clean dispatchable power business.
• Establish and steer international Project Teams/Projects.
• Delivery of project development pipeline to quality, time and budget and PMEF standards.
• Development, reporting and delivery of KPIs.

Your profile

• University degree in relevant studies, e.g. engineering, business administration, economics or physics.
• Proven track record of negotiation skills with UK government, or equivalent.
• Demonstrable experience with project finance, including structuring and successfully obtaining required finance, and joint venture agreements.
• Experienced in functional leadership of international teams in business development activities.
• Profound understanding of the commercial requirements of the development activities and commercial frameworks such as Dispatchable Power Agreements, CfDs or similar.
• Excellent conceptual and strategic thinking combined with the ability to prioritize.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, excellent team-working skills, ability to build strong working relationships across the Uniper Group, strong stakeholder management skills.
• Creative and open-minded character with entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to think out of the box 
• Professional command of English (another language of a Uniper core country beneficial) 
• Significant Engineering Capability/Experience in decarbonisation technologies and solutions
• Leadership skills within a complex matrix and functional organisation
• Commercial acumen in evaluating projects and solutions and impact to Uniper KPI’s
• Change Management capability for evolving delivery structures
• Contract negotiation skills for feasibility and major projects (e.g. FEED contracts, EPC contracts)
• Willingness to travel to various sites for the needs of the role
