We’re hiring world-changers in the ECO Team, our key focus is promoting the installation of energy efficiency measures in eligible fuel poor homes under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) or Great British Insulation (GBIS) schemes.

This role in a nutshell:

You will be responsible for developing new commercial relationships in both existing and entirely new, untested markets; identifying new partners and assisting in designing and defining contractual arrangements which would work in new markets and negotiating the contractual and operational delivery terms for multi-million-pound contracts.

You will report to the Commercial Development Manager and play an important role in both supporting the development of OVO’s ECO and GBIS commercial partnerships as well as ensuring the delivery of the agreed strategy through developing the required supply chain and controls.

As a regulatory obligation, ECO and GBIS is high-profile, with non-compliance likely to lead to enforcement action (including fines up to 10% of Ovo Group turnover) and negative publicity.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Directly supporting the Commercial Development Manager in developing effective strategies for the delivery of OVO’s ECO and GBIS Obligations
  • New commercial partnership development and negotiation, including assisting in the running of tenders and pricing exercises for ECO and GBIS delivery with annual values of more that £150m
  • Extensive travel to potential new partners offices to promote OVO and ascertain suitability of new potential relationships
  • Represent the OVO obligation team at industry events
  • Leading negotiations of multiple multi-million-pound agreements with external organisations, responsible for pre-contract due diligence and supplier evaluation
  • Analysis of market and available data to find opportunities for cost-effective delivery of ECO and GBIS
  • Continuously seeking opportunities to develop commercial partnerships to find new routes to market as well as assisting in the development of existing relationships
  • Working with delivery partners and supporting them to understand what is required to compliantly deliver against OVO’s contracts as well as handling any escalated major disputes, working to minimise OVO financial and reputational risk
  • Providing key ‘on the ground’ knowledge of the industry for ECO and GBIS strategy and partnership development
  • Delivery of agreed strategy targets, working closely with the Commercial Contract Management team to ensure delivery is inline with set contacting strategy
  • Keeping up to date with all industry activity to ensure contracts are amended to meet changing energy efficiency obligation policy, industry fraud and compliance trends and protect OVO against emerging risks by seeking and recommending appropriate contractual incentives and levers
  • Assist in the development of appropriate governance to ensure that controls are in place to manage contracts and protect OVO from fraud and compliance risk
  • Identifying and assessing industry trends and potential impacts and unforeseen effects on ECO delivery, compliance and risk.
  • Within your first 3 months month you’ll:

  • Be comfortable in OVOs requirement on the ECO and GBIS obligation.
  • Be working to meet Business Development objectives.
  • Be able to bring new partners to the OVO ECO team..Be comfortable in representing OVO in the energy efficiency industry.

  • Experience working within the industry for the Energy Company Obligation (ECO), Great British Insulation Scheme or other residential energy efficiency schemes
  • Expert knowledge of the concepts and principles of supply chain management within an operational business
  • An understanding of the residential energy efficiency supply chain in Great Britain and experience of developing new business partnerships within this supply chain
  • Strong commercial contract negotiating capability
  • High attention to detail and ability to analyse information quickly and consistently to identify opportunities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Personal Attributes:

  • Excellent organisational skills with an ability to multitask and prioritise
  • Self motivated and capable of working independently but also as part of a wider team
  • Flexible attitude and be able to adapt quickly to change

    We’ll pay you between £42,000 and £55,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
