Join the UK Dementia Research Institute's Core Informatics team


We are inviting applications for a dedicated Bioinformatician to join our core data science team at the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI), which is central to our national informatics programme aimed at revolutionising neurodegenerative research. This position is based at our vibrant facility at UCL, with collaborative interactions across the UK.


Role: Bioinformatician

Location: UCL, UK

Salary: £42,099 - £50,585 per annum + competitive benefits package

Contract: Fixed term until 31 March 2028


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance data analysis pipelines for a wide range of research data.
  • Manage the data lifecycle involving processing, curation, and management of extensive neurodegenerative research datasets.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with datasets, ensuring high data quality and compliance with research standards.
  • Collaborate with other software developers and bioinformaticians to standardize data reporting and process troubleshooting.


Ideal Candidate:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in a scientific discipline relevant to biomedical or health informatics.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as R and Python, and experienced with workflow management tools like Nextflow and Snakemake.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing large-scale computational research environments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative research environment.
