A day in the life of an Ascent New Vacancy Template

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team within Ascent, we are currently embracing new technologies to further develop our Data and Analytics Strategy.

If you have experience in providing business intelligence (BI) solutions, reporting, and insight from data this could be the opportunity for you!

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will provide expert vision, oversight, and support to the Ascent business to ensure data is appropriately leveraged for insight and reporting.

This is a technical role which has a balance between developing BI products, supporting insight across the function, and working with key stakeholders to ensure our data assets are appropriately and effectively utilised.

You will:

• Provide analytical support, driving success and showing resilience
• Support the Digital Transformation of the reporting environment to meet the companies ICT / Data Strategies and future needs
• Apply and enforce the Ascent Data Governance Policy
• Utilise appropriate technology to create solutions to complex business problems
• Participate in projects and growth initiatives, providing subject matter expertise
• Seek opportunities for process improvements. Assist with the investigation and implementation of process modifications
• Support the existing BI footprint and sprint development cycles
• Work as part of a growing ICT team with a focus on personal development and desire to leverage the latest value-adding analytics technology

What will make you successful?

You will already have strong Business Intelligence experience, having been involved with delivering BI services to end users.

You will have a strong knowledge of data governance, lineage, ETL and visualisation.

You will thrive when working with stakeholders across all levels coupled with your ability to truly understand our business from a commercial standpoint.

You will have strong communication skills.

And you will also (essential):

• Have SC Clearance or be willing to be put through the SC clearance process
• A proven track record of implementing Business Intelligence processes
• Strong experience with Power BI or equivalent data visualisation tools
• Experience of working in a commercial environment providing technical support to a wide variety of stakeholders
• Expertise in designing, coding, testing, and aggregating results from SQL (T-SQL preferable) queries to provide information to users
• Experience of using programming languages (e.g., Python)
• A proactive approach to personal development and acquiring new skills

Desirable:

• Experience in full stack SQL Server (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
• Have gained a degree in Business Analytics / Statistics / Mathematics / Finance / Computer Science or related analytical field
• Experience of cloud-based technologies, in particular Microsoft Azure
• Appreciation of Data Science and Machine Learning models

Knowledge of Continuous Improvement or similar methodology
