The project:


Our client is developing cutting-edge Small Modular Reactor (SMR) solutions for deployment in the UK, France and globally.

They have a unique solution and are developing their business model for delivery of the design.


As the design matures, the engineering teams require experience and knowledgeable input on nuclear and relative-industry best practice to adopt into the design to provide the most effective solution.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Ensure that the Principal Contractor is pro-active in managing all safety aspects of the construction based activities and discharging their duties under CDM regulations.
  • Undertake regular site safety walks, attend coordination meetings and chair regular site progress meetings with contractors.
  • Ensure that site access/egress is controlled and maintain a site log/diary.
  • Review the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Provide input to, review and comment on the deliverability of contractor programmes, including commissioning, and proactively monitor activity progress.
  • Inspect, approve or reject materials and workmanship in line with construction industry and client standards.
  • Undertake sensible monitoring of site construction activities.
  • Issue site instructions and authenticate record sheets issued by the Principal Contractor.
  • Ensure drawings are maintained on site and that latest revisions are readily available through documentation system.
  • Determines project management, technical services and external resources required for project/s. 
  • Delivers project objectives in line with the Project Execution Plan, leads and supervises the project team/s and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs). 
  • Monitors and actively engages in Health, Safety and Wellbeing aspects of the project at all stages. 
  • Prepares and modifies where necessary project plans and keeps them updated and relevant over the course of the project/s.
  • Oversees project timeframes and project budgets, and ensures budgets are managed diligently and highlights any risks, challenges and mitigations.
  • Collaborates with relevant parties/stakeholders and ensures robust quality systems are in place and suitably managed and monitored.
  • Leads relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis where required and site walks and ensures these are suitably recorded.
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders and is actively involved in risk management. 
  • Effectively coordinates and communicates with all project parties/stakeholders, ensuring completion of responsibilities/tasks and ensures suitable standards and records are recorded and maintained.
  • Documents and takes ownership of project changes as and when necessary, tracking project changes.
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
  • You'll need to have: 

  • Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Extensive experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programmes in the xxx sector. 
  • Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on 
  • You'll also have

  • Proven experience and track-record of successful programme delivery (in both construction and pre-construction phases).
  • Leadership and management experience and capability to lead a team.
  • Tertiary qualifications in related (project management and/or construction related discipline), non-related degree or equivalent professional experience/ apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable intermediate level of role knowledge. (or equivalent)
  • Appropriate Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
  • MAPM/MRICS/MICE (or local equivalent).
