We require a highly inspirational, influential, and strong leader to take on the role of associate director of governance for Newham Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring leader looking to develop into a senior hospital leadership role, to work within four triumvirates to provide leadership to the teams and to work in collaboration at all levels across the hospital to deliver our Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and our hospital strategy.

You will be expected to demonstrate an ability to maintain morale and resilience within our multidisciplinary team but also to continue to drive, sustain and deliver further improvements.

Main duties of the job

This role is the lead professional for clinical governance, risk, and safety at the hospital. Following negotiations, you will also be expected to be the hospital lead for a corporate subject which will also include representing the hospital on that subject across Barts Health NHS Trust.

We're looking for an individual who can contribute to the on-going implementation of both National and Bart Health NHS Trust strategy, ensuring achievement of its objectives and proactively modernising the delivery of hospital governance. You will also proactively support the division to meet its over-arching aims around quality and safety, recovery, performance, efficiency, and financial stability.

Essential criteria

  • Degree or equivalent experience in relevant discipline
  • Masters in relevant discipline or the equivalent comparable industry experience.
  • Evidence of recent and ongoing continuous professional and personal development action and activity
  • High level of technical knowledge of risk management assurance and clinical governance
  • Has current broad knowledge of the national NHS context

  • Extensive senior management experience relevant to the role in an NHS or other healthcare organization

    Essential criteria

  • Understanding of PSIRF and its role in patient safety
  • Knowledge of key statutory and legislative requirements, e.g. Duty of Candour and surrounding complaints management

  • Broad understanding of the NHS and social care, including key policy issues which affect improvement, safety and patient experience
